marahmarie: Sheep go to heaven, goats go to hell (Default)

A few days ago, in reference to the Seattle court decision overturning Trump's Muslim ban, [personal profile] darkoshi said she hoped there'd be more good news like it (and as I predicted, there was: Trump's lost all his battles in court over this, and is said to no longer be pursuing a court win on the exact order in question after tweeting, "SEE YOU IN COURT" (...bluffed us, did you?)...leaving us with the final score at Human Rights 4 | Trump: 0.

But her hoping there'd be more good news brought a bad feeling out in me, which led to this rather dark response:

Will there be more like good news like it? Eh...

(Before we even get the ban sorted it'll be time to deport 8+ million Mexicans by hunting them down and forcibly removing them from their homes, jobs, vehicles, and the street, so prepare for another week of absolute fucking bedlam [...] Go US!)

My good spirits evaporated after that; in fact, since then I've felt (and feel) just as lousy as I did before the score of Human Rights 3 | Trump: 0 was achieved. There's always a reason for these otherwise inexplicable moods - especially if they drag on for days or weeks, but unfortunately they point to a near-future I can only speak to (and hope against hope won't come to pass).

Sure enough the Mexican misfortune I foresaw is now unfolding as ICE indeed works to to deport 8+ million Mexicans by hunting them down and forcibly removing them from their homes, jobs, vehicles, and the street. So much for hoping against hope.

While the usual buffoons are trying to put a good face on it (just "“routine” immigration enforcement actions") it's not just criminals being targeted in ICE home and workplace raids and Charlie Checkpoints, among other ways they're taking people away from their lives and loved ones by force in sneak attacks, terrifying one and all.

They're even raiding grocery stores shopping center parking lots (ETA, 2-14-17: my overwrought mind somehow rewrote this bit; apologies) while also using racial profiling to hoover entire neighborhoods, going from door to door, taking people away. Their methods are a bit extreme.

And every bit as awful as I predicted. Sometimes, I hate being right.
